Lorna Shore brought the Hellfire to SOMA San Diego last month. If you're not already familiar with the band, they are one of the most popular Deathcore bands on the planet right now. After releasing a devastatingly heavy song, "Into The Hellfire", Lorna Shore went viral for Will Ramos' (vocals) inhuman guttural screams and the band's ability to execute insane playing speeds. This is exactly what they brought to SOMA.
Lorna Shore has been playing some big festivals the past few years (opening for Mastodon on their last tour), so it's no surprise that the show was sold out. The merch line was consistent the entire show, and at least half the crowd was already adorned in Lorna Shore garb. With tour support from bands like The Black Dalhia Murder & Shadow of Intent, you knew you were in for a good time.
When Lorna Shore took the stage, the vibe changed. There was an intensity in their air, yet a weird sense of calm on vocalist Will Ramos' face. He knew what he was about to give the crowd. Once the band started, it was chaos, and that's just what I could see from the photo pit. Like a conductor, Will hyped the crowd time and time again, opening one of the largest mosh pits I have seen at SOMA. This band plays with unbelievable precision, and incredible production to match.
Not only did Lorna Shore deliver a set of absolute chaos, but returned to give the crowd not one, not two, but three e ncoresongs; playing their entire "Pain Remains" suite for the frenzied San Diego crowd. I actually watched some people start to leave, and then turn right around when they heard what Lorna had in store for them. What a way to close out an super heavy evening of insanely talented bands. Hopefully Lorna Shore will return again to San Diego to show these SoCal fans another great time.
